Bicycle Registration

Registering your bicycle with Portage Public Safety can assist officers with the return of a lost or stolen bicycle and with the criminal prosecution of a bike larceny. Bicycle registration is FREE, does not expire and may be updated at any time. The bicycle serial number, typically located on the frame of the bicycle, must be provided at the time of registration. Click here to be directed to the online form. You may also stop into the Portage Police Department in person during normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM) and ask for a bicycle registration form. With either method, you will need to have the make/model, serial number, wheel size, color and number of speeds handy. After completing the short form, a sticker will be issued for the registered bike.

Every year there are a large number of bicycles that can’t be returned to the owner. If all bicycles are registered with Portage Public Safety, we can easily return them to their owners. The bicycles that we can’t find an owner for are donated after a set period of time. Questions about this program can be directed to the Portage Public Safety Information Center at (269) 329-4567.
