Social Media

Social media has enhanced the connection between local government and residents in cities across the country. In Portage, we use social media to help create trust and transparency and as a customer service tool that encourages resident engagement and invites conversation.

Facebook is our flagship social media platform – your one-stop-shop for all things Portage! Learn about city services, Parks & Recreation events and classes, budget information, road closures, crime and fire prevention tips, Farmers Market offerings, City Council, Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and other public meetings, road construction activities, happenings at the senior center, strategic plan and development activities, and more!

Twitter followers can view critical information in real-time. We tweet about city services, strategic plan and development activities, budget information, public meetings, and more. The Portage Department of Public Safety will use Twitter to update the community during emergencies and weather events with information such as road closures, traffic alerts, and instructions.  Here, you’ll get the news you need about city business.

Instagram allows us to celebrate and reinforce the essential elements that make Portage a great community, like our expansive parks and trails, the hundreds of hard-working city employees, our community partners, and you! Through images and videos, we show you what makes Portage A Natural Place to Move!

LinkedIn is where we connect with job seekers and the business community. We share city employment opportunities, highlight our own fantastic employees, provide news about strategic plan and development activities, and information about public meetings.
