PZSC Closed Thursday, June 19Juneteenth (June 19, 1865) honors the anniversary of the freedom of the last African Americans who were enslaved in the United States. The Portage Zhang Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Normal business hours will resume on Friday, June 20.

New Member Meet & EatFriday, June 20 9 – 10:30 AM FreeThe PZSC Meet & Eat event is an excellent opportunity for anyone who has recently become a member of the Portage Zhang Senior Center or is considering joining. The event is designed to help you get to know the Center better and introduce you to the diverse programs and events that are scheduled throughout the year. During the event, you will be treated to a complimentary light breakfast while we provide you with an overview of all the PZSC has to offer. Seeking Our Centenarian Honorees The Portage Zhang Senior Center invites community members turning 100 in 2025 to be honored at the Centenarian Brunch on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 11 AM–1 PM. This year’s theme, “Tides of Time: Celebrating a Century of You,” honors the wisdom and contributions of those reaching this milestone. Each Centenarian may bring two guests to this free, joyful celebration. To RSVP or refer someone, contact Kimberly Middleton at (269) 329-4554. Concerts in the Courtyard - Tony Fields & Doug Decker Thursday, June 26 4 – 6 PM $10 and Open to the Public Join us as we welcome the return of Tony Fields and Doug Decker! Tony and Doug bring a fantastic evening of jazz, blues, Motown, funk, and some "old school" R&B. Battle Creek native Tony Fields possesses smooth, soulful vocals and a commanding presence that draws the audience to him. Combine this with Doug Decker's outstanding mastery of the keyboards and great vocals for a can’t-miss night of music! Cash bar available, pop and bottled water available for purchase. Ceramics - Sgraffito TilesThursday, June 26 4 - 6 PM $25 Members / $30 Non-Members Instructed by: Kimberly Barrett Always wanted to try your hand at ceramics? Join us as ceramicist Kimberly Barrett teaches this beginner class on the Italian art of sgraffito! Together we will look at sgraffito-style ceramics, discuss how this technique is applied on clay with underglazes. We will walk through the clay process and students will try different clay tools and learn hands-on how they can be used to scrape away underglaze to create their own sgraffito ceramic tile.
