- There is a misprint regarding the Reminiscence Writing Class. It shows a start date of November 20 in the newsletter, but the actual start date is October 9.

**PARKING LOT CLOSURE** The PZSC main parking lot will be closed Friday, September 20 beginning at 12 PM for the Cars & Cocktails Car Show. Parking will be available in the PZSC overflow lot, First Reformed Church parking lot, or on Brown Street. Golf cart transportation will be available beginning at 12 PM if needed.

Friends of the Portage Senior Center Annual “It’s in the Bag” Purse SaleSaturday, October 5, 9 AM – 1 PMJoin us for the ultimate Handbag and Jewelry experience! The Annual Friends of the Portage Senior Center “It’s in the Bag” Purse Sale will be held on Saturday, October 5, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Portage Zhang Senior Center. As always, there will be a large selection of name-brand bags, purses, wallets, jewelry, and a silent auction of designer bags. This is a fundraising event, and all proceeds will directly benefit programming, scholarships, and special projects at the Portage Zhang Senior Center. Donations of gently used purses, wallets, and jewelry are currently being accepted and can be delivered to the Portage Zhang Senior Center at 203 E. Centre Avenue. Thank you for supporting our vision of a community that understands and embraces the power of healthy aging to positively transform lives!

Digital Photography for BeginnersMondays, September 16, 23, 30 1 – 2 PM $60 Members / $70 Non-Members *Scholarships available if needed Digital Photography for Beginners is an engaging 3-class series for those new to digital photography. In this series, participants will learn the essentials, from mastering camera settings like exposure, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture to understanding composition basics. The course offers hands-on exercises to apply these concepts, teaching students how to frame beautiful shots across various photography styles. Aimed at complete beginners, the course creates a supportive space for all to uncover the art of capturing stunning digital images. Plan to meet at the West Lake Nature Preserve located on the corner of South Westnedge and South Shore Drive. The path is paved, and mostly shaded with no hills. Please gather at 10 AM and the walk will begin at 10:15 AM. Restrooms are available in the park. Please remember to dress in layers appropriate for the weather, sturdy and comfortable walking shoes and bring hydration. See you there!

We welcome anyone with cars, trucks, or motorcycles to register for this event, which is open to the public. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the annual Veterans Day Breakfast in November, and we greatly appreciate your donations. Attendees can enjoy two bars, and two live musical performers. Bottled water, pop, food, and snacks will be available for a small fee. REMINDER: Cancellation/ Refund Policy for Classes & ProgramsPlease make sure to register early for all programs and classes offered by PZSC to ensure you get a spot and to avoid the cancellation of classes due to low enrollment. Effective immediately, the PZSC Cancellation Policy requires a 72-business hour (3 days) notice for all cancellations of classes and programs. If you need to cancel your reservation in a class, please do so at least 72-business hours in advance of the scheduled start time. Failure to provide the required notice will result in no refund or credit. Refunds will not be given after a program has begun unless there is a valid medical concern or emergency. However, if the cancellation is due to the discretion of PZSC, including weather advisories or instructor illness, a partial credit will be placed into the member’s account. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Please note that the cancellation/refund policy for travel-related reservations are handled differently.
