The results are in for the inaugural Portage Parks & Recreation Garlic Mustard Contest. Throughout the month of May, volunteers pulled nearly TWO TONS - more than 3,800 pounds - of Garlic Mustard, an invasive species that threatens the health and biodiversity of Portage parks and ecosystems across the state of Michigan. Funding for the contest prizes was allocated by the Portage Park Board.

2nd Place Prize – $100: Isaac H. - 540 lbs +
3rd Place Prize – $75: Katherine L. - 490 lbs +
4th Place Prize – $50: Nancy S. - 340 lbs +
5th Place Prize – $25: Karen C. - 270 lbs +
