On Wednesday, May 26, due to the drought-like conditions and increased water usage, the City of Portage Transportation & Utilities Department will be activating additional wells on the water distribution system. As the city always strives for the best quality of water, we want to make customers aware of the potential changes in the water chemistry from the additional wells. The additional wells may result in some chloramines (an alternative form of water disinfectant) being introduced into the water system. It is important for those with fish aquariums to test the municipal water for chloramines prior to changing their fish tank water. This is for informational purposes only.
