Friday at the Flats Concludes for the Season with a Movie in the Park and More!
Say goodbye to the “Dog Days of Summer” with the last Friday at the Flats of the season. Join us this Friday, August 22, from 5 to 8 PM at the Celery Flats, 7335 Garden Lane. Rain or shine, this FREE fun event features LIVE performances by local musicians, food and beverage vendors, and more!
LIVE local musicians include Dog Patch Lullaby playing bluegrass, followed by Feel Frieda, an electric and eclectic fun mix cover band. Come hungry and enjoy a variety of food, drinks, and desserts from Top Shelf Catering, Hall N Weenies, Ibisons, Little Scoop Ice Cream, Kalamazoo Latino Specialties, and J’Harvey’s BBQ. All food vendors accept cash, debit, or credit cards.
The Celery Flats Historical Area will feature vendor booths, including local businesses, service providers, non-profits, entertainers, crafters, and more. The Portage Historic District Commission will offer tours of the historic buildings, and the Kingpins Drumline, a musical group for all ages and abilities, will perform at 4:30 PM and 6:15 PM in front of the Grain Elevator. There is plenty of lawn seating on both sides, so be sure to bring chairs or blankets.
The fun continues with Movies in the Park. Stay for the last movie of the season, A Minecraft Movie, beginning at dusk (around 9 PM). Pixelated sunglasses will be available to the first 400 people, and Minecraft activity kits will be available for the first 240 kids. Movie treats will be available for purchase from Little Scoop Ice Cream.
