Portage Urges Motorists to Seek Alternate Route Due to Consumers Energy Utility Repair at West Centre Avenue and Shaver Road
On Tuesday, July 15, beginning at 9 AM, both eastbound through lanes on West Centre Avenue, just west of the Shaver Road intersection, and the westbound curb lane at the Shaver Road intersection will be closed. Eastbound traffic will be merged into one lane and routed around the closure using the center left turn lane. Significant traffic delays are expected in this area, and motorists are urged to seek an alternative route.
The lane closures will allow Consumers Energy to repair a gas main leak at the intersection of West Centre Avenue and Shaver Road. The work and lane closures are scheduled to be completed by Friday, July 18, weather and materials permitting.
