For more than 20 years, the City of Portage has awarded annual grants to human service agencies that provide housing, food, clothing and other critical assistance to Portage citizens in need. As part of this long-standing partnership with local agencies, the City of Portage Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget includes grants from the General Fund and the Community Development Block Grant Fund to the agencies noted to the right. Youth development, health care, education and supportive services. Emergency Assistance programs include: food pantry, holiday food baskets, free clothing and financial assistance. Transportation assistance and youth recreation scholarships are also available.

Housing assessment, homelessness prevention and permanent supportive housing for families and children.
Emergency support 24-hour hotline, counseling and shelter for victims of domestic assault and/or sexual assault.
Emergency support, counseling, shelter and outreach for homeless and at-risk youth at the ARK Shelter and Community Services program.
