Juneteenth is a historic holiday marking the end of chattel slavery in the United States and this year marks the 19th annual State of Michigan Juneteenth Freedom Day Recognition. City of Portage citizens are encouraged to celebrate African American history and culture while promoting diversity, equality, and a strong sense of community in Portage.
City of Portage non-emergency offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, June 20 at 7:30 AM. Dial 9-1-1 in the event of a police, fire, or medical emergency.
