Stewardship Day, originally scheduled on January 13, has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Gourdneck State Game Area. Patrons should park in the second parking lot entrance off Angling Road.
Stewardship Day is a volunteer activity, in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC), to remove invasive species from the Gourdneck State Game Area. Make room for native plants to thrive. Bring your work gloves, closed-toed, waterproof footwear, and dress to work outside for a minimum of three hours. Supplies for invasive species removal and lunch will be provided. This program is FREE, but registration is required. To register for the rescheduled event, visit mypark.portagemi.gov.
