Portage Parks & Recreation closes the 2023 Summer Concert Series with The Family Tradition Band on Thursday, September 14 at 7 PM. The concert takes place at Overlander Bandshell in Central Park, 7810 Shaver Road.
The Family Tradition is exactly that, “Family Founded” and “Tradition Based” from the ground up. They were molded by the greats that inspired them in Country Music such as Brooks & Dunn, George Strait, and Alan Jackson. That foundation mixed with their Motor City Roots, some Southern Spirit, and the ability to connect with any crowd they are put in front of, makes The Family Tradition Band truly unique. The band is a modern take on an old timeless classic sound that includes many traditional country elements such as fiddle, banjo, and pedal steel guitar. This combined with spot-on vocal harmonies, dual electric guitars, and a rock-solid rhythm section is what creates the authenticity of the band. Bring a chair or blanket and don't forget to leave a little room for dancing!
Parking opens at 5 PM and is first come, first served. A drop off-loop will be available behind Portage Public Safety for those with mobility issues. Parking is also available at City Hall, the Portage Zhang Senior Center, First Reformed Church, Portage Community Center, and Comerica Bank.
Admission is FREE to the Summer Concert Series thanks to the series sponsor, the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo. Visit the Facebook event @CityofPortageMI for updates. For more information, call Portage Parks & Recreation at (269) 329-4522.
