Candidates with prior full-time experience will be hired in at an advance pay step based on prior years of experience, up to Step F. Step F of the current Portage Police Officer’s Association collective bargaining agreement is $38.87 per hour/$80,852 annually and $40.63 per hour/$84,491 annually (effective July 1, 2024). New lateral transfers will also receive a $15k sign-on bonus. *ALL Portage Public Safety Officers now receive a 5% ANNUAL RETENTION BONUS in July as long as they use two or less sick occurrences each year*. This bonus is unique to Portage Public Safety and is not available anywhere else in the area.
