Beginning Monday, June 19, 2023, at 9 AM, the southbound curb lane of Portage Road will be closed from Romence Road to East Centre Avenue for the start of the Portage Road Reconstruction project. The project includes curb and gutter repair, installation of center island boulevards, an extension of the non-motorized trail to East Centre Avenue with replacement of sidewalk and new driveway approaches, installation of a new traffic signal at Romence Road, and milling and paving operations.
Beginning Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 9 AM, the center turn lane on Portage Road will be closed and all traffic will be shifted to the east side of the roadway with traffic being reduced to one lane of travel in both directions. These traffic shifts will occur south of East Centre Avenue and north of Romence Road and will be maintained throughout the project limits.
Portage Road is anticipated to be paved and fully open to traffic by late August 2023, weather and materials permitting.
