On Monday, May 15 beginning at 6 AM, Shaver Road from the south city limits to Beethoven Avenue will be closed to all traffic for milling and paving operations. Motorists should follow the posted detour route, which is West U Avenue to Oakland Drive to Shaver Road. Residents on Rolling Hill Avenue, West Osterhout Avenue, Mapleview Avenue, Sugarloaf Avenue, and Avalon Woods Drive will not have access to Shaver Road and may use either Beethoven Avenue or Oakland Drive. Shaver Road will be open to traffic on Friday, May 26, weather and materials permitting.
This project will be constructed over two years. Year one of the project includes barrier-free access at all sidewalk crossings including tactile warning surfaces, pavement milling, and resurfacing from the south city limits to Oakland Drive. The second year of this project includes the replacement of water main from Oakland Drive to Vanderbilt Avenue, pavement milling, and asphalt resurfacing. The expected construction period is May through June 2023 and March through June 2024.
