All non-emergency City of Portage offices will close at 4 p.m. today due to the Winter Storm Warning issued for Kalamazoo County. We are grateful to the women and men who work in Public Safety, Public Works, and Utilities who will remain on the job serving the citizens of Portage.
The US National Weather Service Grand Rapids Michigan says that travel conditions will rapidly deteriorate this afternoon as snow arrives from south to north and becomes heavy. During the peak of the storm between 4 and 10 p.m., snowfall rates may exceed one inch per hour in the winter storm warning area.
