GAC 401_

Portage Parks & Recreation hosts the National Wildlife Federation “Great American Campout” on Saturday, June 25 through Sunday, June 26.  This year, the event has moved to Schrier Park, 850 West Osterhout Avenue.

The “Great American Campout” welcomes all levels of campers and is family friendly.  Throughout the weekend, campers will enjoy s'mores, campfire snacks, dinner, and breakfast.  They will learn survival skills, play camp games, create classic camp crafts, enjoy a bonfire, and participate in a Ranger-led hike.  All food and activities are included in the registration fee.

Check-in and camp set-up will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 with check-out on Sunday, June 26 by 10:30 a.m.  Restrooms will be open during this event.  Campers are required to bring their own tents.

The fee to participate is $50 per campsite.  Space is limited, so make sure to register for this classic, summer event by June 20 at mypark.portagemi.gov.  The rain date is scheduled for July 30 – 31.
