[ARCHIVED] Pfizer in Portage

Pfizer

Pfizer, Inc. recently announced that its site in Portage, Michigan has been identified as a manufacturing center for COVID-19 vaccine production.  In a press release, Pfizer said that in anticipation of a successful clinical development program, Pfizer and BioNTech SE are working to scale up production for global supply.  Pfizer plans to activate its extensive manufacturing network and invest at risk in an effort to produce an approved COVID-19 vaccine as quickly as possible for those most in need around the world.

The City of Portage is proud to be home to one of Pfizer’s manufacturing sites where a possible COVID-19 vaccine will be manufactured.  “The positive impact of this announcement is hard to measure within our city, region and state,” said Portage Mayor, Patricia Randall.  “It offers hope to all, especially knowing that what is created in Portage, Michigan, will make a difference globally.”  Portage City Manager, Joe La Margo said, “The importance of the work to develop a weapon against Coronavirus cannot be overstated.  We are grateful to Pfizer and its collaboration with BioNTech and hope that it produces a viable vaccine against COVID-19.”
