Gallery at the Parks

Spotlights Posted on February 13, 2026

The first Gallery at the Parks exhibition is open for viewing from Monday, February 16, through Friday, April 24, 2026, during normal business hours, at Portage Parks & Recreation, 320 Library Lane. This series embraces artists and provides them with public space to showcase their wide range of talents and art media. The exhibitions are FREE and open to the public.

The featured artist is Cindy Coleman, a self-taught artist working in numerous 2-D mediums, including watercolor, pastel, acrylics, and oils. Her love for plants, people, places, and animals creates the primary focus of her body of work, including 18 original works, 12 signed prints, and various printed cards. Ms. Coleman is the recipient of many art show and festival awards and recognitions throughout southwest Michigan.

Artwork exhibited will be available for purchase, and patrons may inquire about commissioned pieces. A portion of all sales from this exhibition will be donated by the artist to the YWCA of Greater Kalamazoo and Twelve Baskets Food Pantry.

An application is available online at this link for artists wishing to apply for a Gallery at the Parks showing. Qualifying artists must provide a minimum of 10 to 12 works of art (or more, based on size and space available). Media can include paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, turnings, mixed media, and more.

For more information, call Portage Parks & Recreation at (269) 329-4522.
