[ARCHIVED] Portage Road 360 - Community Open House #2

Community Open House 2 Square Graphic

The City of Portage invites you to Community Open House #2 for Portage Road 360, a planning and design initiative aimed at improving the important Lake Center commercial and residential corridor. Your input is essential in shaping the vision for this vital roadway!

Event Details

Date: Wednesday, February 19
Location: Portage Zhang Senior Center (203 East Centre Avenue)
Time: Drop in between the hours of 5:30 - 7:00 PM

At Open House #2, participants will:

  • Help set a vision and frame goals for the project
  • Discuss and prioritize design ideas to improve the Portage Road corridor
  • Brainstorm ways to promote safety and create a more walkable, vibrant corridor

Why Your Input Matters

Portage Road 360 builds on the Lake Center District Subarea Plan, which was approved in 2024. While the plan laid the foundation for key improvements – such as a new traffic signal at Forest Drive and commercial rezoning – additional community input is needed to refine design details and ensure the corridor meets the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors.

Community Engagement So Far

  • On January 3, the Portage Road 360 team met with over 50 residents at Twelve Baskets Food Pantry, gathering input on roadway improvements.
  • The first Community Open House on January 17 at Presidential Brewing Company drew more than 100 participants, who engaged in interactive activities like mapping exercises and dot voting activities.

Your voice matters! Whether you attended previous events or are joining us for the first time, this is your opportunity to help shape the future of Portage Road.
