In honor of Black History Month, the City of Portage will host its first Kara-Mo-Ke (Karaoke) event on Friday, February 21, from 5 to 7 PM at Portage Parks & Recreation, 320 Library Lane. Celebrate with us as we honor and pay tribute in song to the pioneers of the Motown Sounds while enjoying a special appearance from a legendary Motown Records Artist from Kalamazoo.
Not only will you be able to sing Motown Hits from the past, but a DJ will play a variety of music, making sure everyone is grooving and dancing the night away. A catered soup bar will also be available for no additional cost. The doors will open at 4:45 PM. This FREE event is open to all ages and no registration is required. Bring a friend and your best karaoke skills with you!
Motown Records was founded in 1959 by Barry Gordy with a legacy that spans over seven decades. Motown rostered some of your favorite artists of the past such as Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Valvelettes, Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Jackson 5, and more.
