Popular “Scalin’ Up for Summer”Moves to South Westnedge Park
School is almost out and summer is in the air. Portage Parks & Recreation will host Scalin' Up for Summer, sponsored by Honor Credit Union this Saturday, June 8 from 10 AM to 1 PM at a NEW LOCATION – South Westnedge Park, 9010 South Westnedge Avenue. The event features Hawg Trough, a mobile 2,000-gallon fish tank stocked with fish. The first 150 kids to complete a Scalin’ Up for Summer passport will receive a FREE FISHING ROD courtesy of the Future Anglers Foundation.
Get an up-close look (and maybe touch) at scaly creatures from Muxlow Exotics and the Michigan Herpetologists. Explore the world of fishing and boating with D&R Sports, Trout Unlimited, and Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery. Kalamazoo Water Safety and Recovery, Great Lakes Rescue, Barry-Calhoun-Kalamazoo Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area, the Portage District Library, and the Southwest Michigan ThunderCats mountain bike team will also be at the event. Get a balloon made by Darrell Imaginairan and bring your appetite for hot dogs from Floatin’ Franks.
