The City of Portage has 14 boards, commissions, and committees and the application process has begun for citizens to volunteer and serve. The deadline to apply for vacant positions is Friday, May 3 and citizens can apply at mi-portage.civicplus.com/151/Boards-Commissions.
Portage residents have the opportunity to serve the community on boards that advise the City Council, each with unique duties, memberships, qualifications, and terms. Some boards meet regularly while some meet intermittently. Residents will apply to volunteer their time, energy, expertise, and insight to help keep our community A Natural Place to Move!
Applications for all boards will be accepted; however, individuals on the following boards are most needed: Construction Board of Appeals, EDC/TIFA & BRA, Human Services Board, Historic District Commission, Planning Commission, Senior Citizens Advisory Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals. The Youth Advisory Committee also seeks applicants for the 2024 - 2025 school year. A complete list of all boards, commissions, and committees with descriptions is available HERE.
The Portage City Council will make appointments to the various city boards, commissions, and committees in May. Citizens are encouraged to apply for consideration. Contact the Office of the City Clerk with questions at (269) 329-4511.
