Garlic mustard is the most destructive invasive plant in Portage, with its rapid growth impeding native plants. Volunteer with the City of Portage Environmental Board to learn how to identify garlic mustard, remove it and properly dispose of it. All ages are welcome to participate. All garlic mustard pulls take place from 9 AM - 12 PM. Subscribe to Environmental Board updates, including weather cancellations and additional volunteer opportunities. The Portage Farmers Market opens May 1 and runs through October 16, every Sunday from 9 AM – 1 PM. Browse local vendors offering fresh produce, meat, eggs, fruits, baked goods, flowers, crafts, gifts, and more! The Portage Youth Advisory Committee, in cooperation with the Portage Environmental Board and Park Board, will host the 14th annual Green- A-Thon to celebrate Earth Day. Green-A-Thon 2022 will include a “sneak peek” Portage Farmers Market! This unique event will be held outdoors at Portage City Hall on Sunday, May 1. The FREE event will feature fun, food and activities for all. Representatives from local organizations and businesses will provide education on environmental ideas you can utilize in your home or business. Meet individuals who are committed to promoting environmentally-friendly action in Portage. The City of Portage is currently receiving applications from organizations and businesses that would like to be featured at the 2022 Green-A-Thon.
