  1. City Hall Exhibition - One-Room Schoolhouse

    Rotating exhibitions are featured in the atrium at Portage City Hall (7900 South Westnedge Avenue) throughout the year and focus on local arts and history. The exhibitions are FREE to the public and are open Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 4 PM. An exhibit to feature the historic One-Room District #8 Schoolhouse also known as Prairie Edge School built in 1856. Don’t miss these previously unpublicized large-scale images of what days were like during these times.

  2. Portage Farmers Market

    The Portage Farmers Market opens May 9 and will run through October 24, every Sunday from 10 AM – 2 PM.   3. YMCA Youth Tennis Camp

    June 14, 2021, 9:00 AM - June 17, 2021, 11:00 AM @ Oakland Drive Park

    Participants will acquire basic knowledge of all strokes with an emphasis on playing points on a scaled-down court utilizing developmental equipment. Match situations will be introduced.   4. Kid's Try-It! Sports

    Summer is the time to try new things! We have a great opportunity for your little ones, ages 4-5 & 6-7, to have a hands-on experience with sports activities. For six weeks, children will experience a new and different sport through fun drills and games each week! In addition to practicing the basics of each sport, kids will learn sportsmanship, teamwork and to try, try again!   5. Junior Ranger Earn-A-Badge - Survival Badge

    June 16, 2021, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Schrier Park

    The Junior Ranger Club is a fun way to learn more about the Portage Park system and to earn an official Junior Ranger shield as a wildlife steward. The Junior Ranger Club is an activity-based program offering eight different badges that can be earned by completing specific activities: arts, endurance, health, history, nature, science, service and survival. Need a little help with finishing your badges? During these programs, a Junior Ranger may bring an adult and together, work on specific badge activities. These programs are free, include supplies and are led by Parks staff. You can attend just one or all of the programs. Based on COVID restrictions, sessions may be offered virtually with supplies available for pick up at City Hall. All programs run from 6 – 7 PM. Space is limited, so do not wait to register!
