  2. City Hall Exhibitions - What's in a Name?

    March 8, 2021, 9:00 AM - April 30, 2021, 4:00 PM @ Portage City Hall

Discover the history behind names such as Austin, Kilgore, Milham, Dry Prairie and others that created a footprint on the City of Portage we know today. If you have photos or stories to share about people who shaped the early settlement of Portage from 1830 to the early 1900’s, please contact Portage Parks & Recreation to add their history to our archives.

  3. Junior Ranger Earn-A-Badge - Service Badge

    April 21, 2021, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Schrier Park

The Junior Ranger Club is a fun way to learn more about the Portage Park system and to earn an official Junior Ranger shield as a wildlife steward. The Junior Ranger Club is an activity-based program offering eight different badges that can be earned by completing specific activities: arts, endurance, health, history, nature, science, service and survival. Need a little help with finishing your badges? During these programs, a Junior Ranger may bring an adult and together, work on specific badge activities. These programs are free, include supplies and are led by Parks staff. You can attend just one or all of the programs. Based on COVID restrictions, sessions may be offered virtually with supplies available for pick up at City Hall. All programs run from 6 – 7 PM. Space is limited, so do not wait to register! Visit mypark.portagemi.gov and click on the purple Recreation Activities & Facility Rentals button.
