  1. Portage Community Art Award Exhibition

    Rotating exhibitions that focus on local arts and history are featured at Portage City Hall throughout the year. The exhibitions are free to the public and are open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Portage Community Art Award Exhibition In collaboration with the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts’ West Michigan Area Show (WMAS), the City of Portage awarded the 2nd Annual Portage Community Art Award to June Belitz for her work titled “Sitting on Top of the World.” The WMAS is a juried exhibition of the visual arts, featuring a wide variety of mediums from a 14-county region and the Portage Community Art Award is presented to the Portage artist whose work best represents A Natural Place to Move. Ms Belitz’s work of art will be on display in Portage City Hall Lobby for one year beginning, Thursday, September 12, 2019 Several other original works of art will be exhibited through Thursday, October 31, 2019.

  2. Fall into Magic

    September 20, 2019, 6:00 PM @ Hayloft Theatre

    FALL INTO MAGIC Friday, September 20, 6 p.m. Hayloft Theatre (7334 Garden Lane) FREE Abracadabra! See your favorite local magician, Brian Penny in a special fall show at the Hayloft Theatre. Along with a visit from the Kalamazoo Ghost Busters and a couple friends from a galaxy far, far away. Every child will receive a chance to win a private magic lesson for one, taught by Brian Penny himself. Each child will also receive a FREE magic trick. Glow necklaces and concessions will be available for purchase. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Portage Community Center. Space is limited, tickets are available in the Parks office at no charge.
