Soul Food: "Truths, Tastes & Traditions" with Dr. Jumanne & Guest Chef

Saturday, June 19, 2021

Celebrate the African American culinary experience with this interactive and delicious workshop. Dr. Monifa A. Jumanne and a guest chef will first walk us through the history of Juneteenth – June 19 - an African American holiday. We will then explore that distinctive cuisine known as “Soul Food.” With an array of tasty samples, this session examines the enduring significance of soul food in American culture. To register, visit mypark.portagemi.gov and click the purple Recreation Activities & Facility Rentals button. The registration deadline is 2 weeks prior to each class.
