  1. Portage Community Art Award Exhibition

    September 12, 2019, 8:00 AM - October 31, 2019, 5:00 PM @ Portage City Hall- 7900 S. Westnedge Avenue

    Rotating exhibitions that focus on local arts and history are featured at Portage City Hall throughout the year. The exhibitions are free to the public and are open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Portage Community Art Award Exhibition In collaboration with the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts’ West Michigan Area Show (WMAS), the City of Portage awarded the 2nd Annual Portage Community Art Award to June Belitz for her work titled “Sitting on Top of the World.” The WMAS is a juried exhibition of the visual arts, featuring a wide variety of mediums from a 14-county region and the Portage Community Art Award is presented to the Portage artist whose work best represents A Natural Place to Move. Ms Belitz’s work of art will be on display in Portage City Hall Lobby for one year beginning, Thursday, September 12, 2019 Several other original works of art will be exhibited through Thursday, October 31, 2019.

  2. Ping Pong League- Session 1

    October 2, 2019 - December 4, 2019 @ Portage Senior Center

    Ping pong is a great low-impact sport that any athlete can play! Come play ping pong and meet new friends in our recreational ping pong league. Two 10-week sessions are offered. All games for both sessions will start at 6 and 7 PM. Space is limited! Registration for the first session runs July 31 - September 18.     October 19, 2019, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Ramona Park & Beach

    Don’t miss the wildly popular Monster Mash at Ramona Park! The event includes trick-or-treating, inflatables, a spooky hayride, fun shows, on-site pumpkin carving demonstrations, and much more. Smoked Down BBQ and Camzie’s Pizza offer food concessions for purchase. Parking is available on-site at Ramona Park.

  5. Cottage Food Law Class

    October 24, 2019, 6:00 PM @ Stuart Manor

    Presented by the Portage Farmers Market and MSU Extension. Are you ready to start your own Farmers Market business? Participants will learn how to prepare and sell foods to the public under Michigan’s Cottage Food Law. Topics include preparing, packaging, labeling, storing and transporting cottage foods.     At Painting in the Park, anyone can be an artist! Expert instructors guide you through a step-by-step painting in one evening. The class registration fee includes all supplies needed to create your masterpiece. Bring your beverage of choice; light refreshments will be provided.   7. Friday at the Flats

    Come join us for our second Friday at the Flats food truck rally at the Celery Flats Pavilion! A special Portage Kid’s Market will also take place at the Celery Flats Historical Area where children under 18 years will be selling their hand-crafted wares. The musical guest for the evening will be Uncle Kookie. Limited seating is available at the Celery Flats Pavilion; however, the lawn provides ample space to spread out a blanket or chairs.
