Working together to develop the City a premier community by engaging in visionary planning, building vibrant human scaled neighborhoods, and serving our residents, businesses, and visitors.

The Division is responsible for short- and long-range planning, administration of community development programs, zoning and subdivision regulations, and code enforcement.

Examples include: updating Master Plan (Comprehensive Plan), conducting strategic planning studies, providing professional services for the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Historic District Commission, reviewing and coordinating private development projects, administering the Land Development Regulations including the Zoning Code, subdivision, and access management regulations, and enforcing Zoning and Community Quality codes. 

In conjunction with planning application approvals, zoning approvals include various land use applications to ensure the consistency with the applicable sections of the zoning code.  Examples include: land divisions, sign permits, business special events, home occupations, and chicken permits.
