    MAYORS RIDE Saturday, May 11, 8:30 a.m. Registration Bicentennial Park (910 East Milham Road) FREE On Saturday, May 11 the Mayors of the City of Portage Patricia Randall and the City of Kalamazoo Bobby Hopewell will lead an 8-mile bike ride to commemorate Kalamazoo Bike Week. Kalamazoo Bike Week runs from May 11 – 18, 2019. The event will start at Bicentennial Park on Milham. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the ride to start at 9 a.m.

    GARLIC MUSTARD PULLS May 11 – Schrier Park (850 West Osterhout) May 18 – Bicentennial Park (910 East Milham) June 1 – Westlake Nature Preserve (9001 South Westnedge) 9 a.m. – 12 noon Garlic mustard is the most destructive invasive plant in Portage, with its rapid growth impeding native plants. Volunteer with the Environmental Board to learn how to identify garlic mustard, remove it and properly dispose of it. All ages are welcome to participate. Sign up for the Environmental Board updates using the city’s PortageAlert system, including weather cancellations and additional volunteer opportunities.
