    The Portage Farmers Market opens June 7 and will run through October 25, every Sunday from 10 AM – 2 PM. Browse local vendors offering fresh produce, meat, eggs, fruits, baked goods, flowers, crafts, gifts, while enjoying music from local performers, and more!   2. Adult Pickleball Leagues - Session 2 Registration

    June 8, 2020 - July 3, 2020

    Nothing says Portage Summer like playing pickleball. Leagues will be offered on Tuesdays (competitive), Wednesdays (intermediate) and Thursdays (recreational) from 6 to 7:30 PM at Ramona Park (8600 South Sprinkle Road) and Lakeview Park (9345 Portage Road). Two six-week sessions are offered over the summer for each league. There is something for every skill level. Space is limited.   3. Friday at the Flats

    Drive in Movies and Friday at the Flats Looking for something fun to do this summer? Don't worry our Movies are now a Drive-In Movie alongside our Friday at the Flats event. We will be moving to Ramona Park (8600 South Sprinkle Road) to make sure we have enough space to maintain social distancing for the drive in. Parking will be in the football fields. Some of your local food trucks will be available for take-out from 5 - 8 PM. Feel free to eat by your vehicle or take it home. Then you and your family can enjoy a movie from your vehicle beginning around 9 PM. You will be able to hear the movie from a radio station in your vehicle. No other concessions will be available for purchase.

    Test your bike safety knowledge with a game-board style interactive trail! Bike from Celery Flats towards the Milham entrance and stop at our hands-on bike “safety avenues.” Participate in a quick activity, collect your “Bike Bucks” and move on to the next space on the game board. At the end, hand in your “Bike Bucks” for an award! This program is a drop-in with the last participants starting at 3:45 PM. *”Bike Bucks” have no cash value.

  6. Adult Pickleball Competitive League - Session 1

    June 16, 2020, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Ramona Park (8600 South Sprinkle Road) and Lakeview Park (9345 Portage Road)

    Nothing says Portage Summer like playing pickleball. Two six-week sessions are offered over the summer for each league. This league is for the competitive pickleball player. Games will be played to 11 or 15 points. Points will be kept and your score will move you up or down a court the following week. Competition is key.

  7. Adult Pickleball Intermediate League - Session 1

    June 17, 2020, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Ramona Park (8600 South Sprinkle Road) and Lakeview Park (9345 Portage Road)

    Nothing says Portage Summer like playing pickleball. Two six-week sessions are offered over the summer for each league. Intermediate League: This league is for the person who wants more competition than the Recreational league, but less than the Competitive league. You will play with all the people at your particular park, and will move up, or down a court if you win or lose your game. Points will not be kept from week to week.

  11. Tune & Ride with Open Roads

    June 20, 2020, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Eliason Nature Reserve

    Get riding with this guided bike ride with Open Roads of Kalamazoo. This program will teach kids how to complete a pre-ride safety check, tune up their own bicycle and then have a guided ride with a trained staff instructor. Participants must bring in their own bike, helmet and a chaperone. Don’t have a bike, but would like to participate? Call Portage Parks & Recreation at 329-4522 for possible options.   12. School of Fish Day Camp - Little Lunkers (Ages 7-12)

    Day campers will experience all the joys and benefits associated with fishing and environmental conservation.     Summer is the time to try new things! We offer two great opportunities for your little ones, ages 4-5 & 6-7, to have a hands-on experience with new sports or arts activities. Registration deadline is June 10. Space is limited with a maximum of 10 kids per session. Every week, kids will experience playing a different sport by practicing fun drills and games.
