WMUK Features the Portage Creek Bicentennial Park Trail

WMUK's Nancy Camden took a ride recently along the Portage Creek Bicentennial Park Trail (PCBP). Along the way, she spoke with several park patrons about the trail.  Listen to her story here.

The “backbone” of the Portage park system, PCBP was the official city project to honor the nation’s 200th birthday. Spanning over 200 acres, PCBP is a linear facility that runs between the City Centre and northern city limits at Kilgore Road, connected by a 3.5 mile multi-use trail. In total, PCBP has over 8 miles of hiking and biking trails with several opportunities to view scenic Portage Creek.

Parking is available at the Lover’s Lane Trailhead, just south of Kilgore Road, at the main entrance on Milham Avenue just west of Lover’s Lane and at the Celery Flats Historical Area at Garden Lane. During the spring and summer seasons, by reservation, groups can rent canoes and bicycle surreys from the PCBP Livery near Celery Flats.

For more information about the PCBP or other City of Portage parks, please visit the Parks & Amenities Listing on the city website or call the Parks and Recreation Division at 269-329-4522.
