Change Your Clocks - Change Your Batteries!

Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries, offering early warning of a fire and giving occupants extra time to leave a burning building. It is a small but important step to make sure that smoke alarms have fresh batteries. Change the batteries in your smoke alarms twice each year along with Daylight Saving Time. When you change your clocks on Sunday, March 11, change the batteries in every smoke alarm in your home. After inserting a fresh battery in each smoke alarm, push the safety test button to make sure the alarms are in proper-working condition then conduct this test monthly. Never disconnect your smoke alarm battery − a “chirping” alarm is a signal that it needs a fresh battery. Finally, replace smoke alarms every ten years. It’s that simple and just might save a life!
