Snow Removal Emergency

Substantial snowfall amounts are predicted for Friday, February 9 with the potential of creating hazardous road conditions. To ensure complete snow removal from city streets, Portage residents are asked to refrain from parking on all public streets beginning at 2:00 a.m. on Friday morning until the street has been cleared of snow. The City of Portage thanks you for your cooperation and understanding.

As this major storm moves through the area, every effort will be made to keep major roads open and as clear as possible. Trucks will make every attempt to provide residents on non-major roads with an emergency access pass as they are able.  Once the storm ends, snow plow operators will begin clearing all interior neighborhood streets and providing access to cul-de-sacs and dead end streets; this usually requires an additional 24 to 48 hours.  De-icing materials are applied as needed throughout the duration of any snow event, with major streets, bridges, intersections, hills and curves receiving priority attention.

Please call the Department of Public Services at 329-4444 with any questions.
