November City General Election

The Office of the City Clerk is preparing for the election to be held on November 7, 2017.  On the ballot will be the two-year Mayoral term and three four-year City Council terms.  Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Precinct Information

The City of Portage is divided into 19 voting precincts.  Where you vote depends on where you live.  All precinct locations will be open.  If you are unsure of your polling location, either review your voter identification card, visit the Michigan Voter Information Center at www.michigan.gov/vote or contact the Office of the City Clerk at 329-4511.  

New Election Equipment Open Houses

The City of Portage is pleased to announce that new voting equipment will be implemented for this election!  Through the State of Michigan and Help America Vote Act funding, new election equipment is being introduced statewide.  To afford voters an opportunity to check out the new equipment, the City of Portage will host two open houses in advance of the November election.  The open houses will be held in Council Chambers at Portage City Hall on:

  • Wednesday, October 11, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 18, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Election staff will be present to answer questions and demonstrate the equipment.
