Dispatcher/Radio Operator (Full-time)

The City of Portage is seeking highly skilled candidates for the full-time position of Radio Operator to dispatch police and fire 911 emergency and non-emergency calls.  Previous 9-1-1 dispatch experience preferred but not required.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, associate degree preferred.  Must be able to type 35 wpm, read maps, accurately relay information, deliver superior customer service, have superior listening skills, recall detailed information, make critical decisions under pressure and manage complex tasks with frequent interruptions.  Qualified candidates must pass written test, background investigation, audio-gram, psychological evaluation, and meet LEIN certification requirements. 12 Hour shifts and will include weekends and holidays.  Starting pay is $19.85/hour with excellent benefit package.

Written test will be offered on June 6, 2017, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM and will be held at the Portage Fire Department, 7830 Shaver Road, Portage, MI 49024.
