Participants will also learn basic water safety. Intermediate Level builds off of the skills taught in the Beginner Level by coordinating strokes and increasing endurance.     The City of Portage is once again excited to partner with the People’s Co-op of Kalamazoo to offer a weekly farmers’ market! The farmers’ market will be held at City Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting May 6. The Portage Farmers’ Market vendors are all local so you know where your food and crafts are coming from. On select Sundays starting at noon, a horse and carriage will take patrons from the farmers’ market to Celery Flats, where historical tours, demonstrations and presentations will be occurring.     Luau Time!! The Parks department is excited to host its first ever Annual Healthy Kids Beach Bash. Come join in on carnival games, inflatables, magic shows, balloon animals, music by a local DJ, watermelon eating contest and a limbo contest! Carnival Food and Food Trucks will be onsite and available for purchase. Magic shows will begin at 3:30, 5 and 6:30 p.m. Watermelon eating contest will begin at 4:30 p.m. and Limbo Contest at 6 p.m., registration is required by visiting www.portagemi.gov and click on the purple Recreation Activities button by July 10th.
