The city of Portage operates the Senior Center and provides partial funding. Friends of the Portage Senior Center (PSC) and members raise more than 50 percent. The PSC receives no federal or county funds. All contributions are welcome, needed and appreciated.
Friends of the Portage Senior Center
The Friends of the Portage Senior Center is a non-profit membership organization founded in 1992. It’s purpose is to support the Portage Senior Center/Senior Services financially by encouraging sponsorships, gifts, and bequests and by stimulating public interest in the PSC and Senior Citizen Services.
To ensure future funding of the Portage Senior Center, you may also set up an endowment fund established through the Kalamazoo Foundation. Call the Center at 269-329-4555 for important information regarding tax advantages you might receive by giving to a community endowment fund. To donate, please make checks out to the "Friends of the PSC Endowment."
Volunteer Appreciation/Annual Recognition Event
An event honoring approximately 250 volunteers who contribute more than 16,000 hours per year to the operation of the Portage Senior Center is held annually. The associated costs of the event involve a small gift for each volunteer ($500), refreshments ($1,200), printing of programs and invitations ($100) and entertainment ($200). Please consider sponsoring the event.
